We ship DDU / DAP (Delivered at Place) from China to the UK. Most small orders sail through with no extra charges. Larger orders may have import VAT/duty collected by the courier before delivery.
What DDU/DAP means
Under DDU/DAP, we cover the product and international shipping. If HMRC charges import VAT/duty, your courier will contact you to pay these before delivery. (This is common only on higher-value orders.)
UK thresholds (simple version)
- Orders ≤ £135 (per parcel/consignment) ✅ Typically no customs duty. ✅ UK VAT is usually handled at checkout for consumer orders. ✅ Result: No extra to pay on delivery in most cases.
- Orders > £135 (per parcel/consignment) ⚠️ Import VAT and sometimes customs duty may be charged by the courier. ⚠️ Couriers often add a small clearance/handling fee. ⚠️ You’ll be notified to pay these before delivery.
The £135 threshold is based on the total value of items in one parcel, not per item.
Clear examples (for guidance)
- One phone case – £11.19 Falls under £135 → VAT usually handled at checkout → nothing due at delivery.
- Travel bag (£102.79) + wallet (£9.99) shipped together = £112.78 Still under £135 → nothing due at delivery in most cases.
- Two travel bags in one parcel = £205.58 Over £135 → courier may collect import VAT, any duty (varies by product), and a small admin/clearance fee before delivery.
If charges are requested by your courier
- You’ll get a text/email from the courier with the amount and a secure payment link.
- Pay promptly to avoid delays.
- If you think the amount looks off, reply to the courier message and drop us a line — we’re happy to help check.
